Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
KnowYourGC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website knowyourgc.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
What We Collect
We collect two categories of information depending on how you interact with our site:
Anonymous usage data (all visitors)
- Pages viewed, clicks, scroll depth, and other interaction events
- Session recordings and heatmap data (mouse movements, clicks)
- Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and device type
- Referring URL and general geographic region
- An anonymous visitor identifier stored in your browser (see localStorage section below)
- Ad conversion events (e.g., whether you arrived via a Facebook ad)
Account data (registered users only)
- Email address provided during account creation
- Authentication session tokens
- Any reviews or content you voluntarily submit
We do not collect personally identifiable information from visitors who do not create an account.
How We Use Your Information
- To operate and improve the KnowYourGC platform
- To understand how visitors use the site and identify areas for improvement
- To measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns
- To detect and prevent abuse or misuse of the platform
- To communicate with registered users about their accounts
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to analyze site usage and measure advertising performance. Each service may set its own cookies or use other tracking technologies according to its own privacy policy.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Collects anonymized pageview and event data to help us understand traffic patterns. Google may set cookies in your browser. Google Privacy Policy
Microsoft Clarity
Records anonymized user sessions and generates heatmaps so we can see how visitors interact with the site. Personal information entered into forms is masked automatically. Microsoft Privacy Statement
PostHog
Provides product analytics including autocaptured events and pageviews to help us understand feature usage. PostHog Privacy Policy
Meta Pixel (Facebook)
Tracks conversion events to measure the performance of our advertising on Meta platforms. Meta may set cookies and use this data according to its own policies. Meta Privacy Policy
Supabase
Serves as our backend for user authentication and custom event storage. Anonymous visitor events are stored with a randomly-generated visitor ID that is not linked to any personal information. Supabase Privacy Policy
Cookies and Local Storage
KnowYourGC itself does not set authentication cookies. Instead, we use the following browser storage mechanisms:
- kygc_vid and kygc_returning — randomly-generated anonymous identifiers stored in first-party cookies. They contain no personal information and are used solely to associate usage events from the same browser and to distinguish new from returning visitors.
- Supabase session tokens stored in localStorage for authenticated users.
Third-party services listed above (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, PostHog, and Meta Pixel) may set their own cookies. You can manage or block these cookies through your browser settings.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your personal data
- Object to or restrict the processing of your data
- Request a portable copy of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
You can clear your anonymous visitor ID at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage. If you have a registered account, you may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email address below.
Data Retention
Anonymous usage data is retained for up to 24 months. Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Aggregated, non-identifiable analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect, including the use of HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and secure cloud infrastructure for data at rest. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
KnowYourGC is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
